When buying a home, always consult with a local lender first.

When my clients start the buying process, I have a discussion with them and always recommend that they begin by consulting with a trusted local lender in the area. The reason is that when you discuss your financial situation with that lender, they will have you go through the whole process to determine what your price point is in this market.

Once I know what my buyer is working with, I can determine which listings to send them and what areas they should be looking into specifically. I can't stress it enough—always chat with a trusted lender and get your pre-approval started before you jump into the homebuying surge.
